In collaboration with its global partners, Shiv-Vani offers a wide range of innovative cementing solutions to support well development and minimise environmental impact. Cementing is of crucial importance after well drilling. It holds well casings in place, ensures zonal isolation and helps prevent leaks/seepages/cross-contamination among zones. Cementing is also done to seal a lost circulation zone and plug a well. Drilling involves penetrating several geological layers mostly containing fresh/salt water, oil, gas, or a combination of all. In order to segregate the layers after a hole is drilled, large-dimeter steel pipes or casings are inserted into open holes. After this, cement is pumped down the casings and up the annulus (the empty space between a casing and the wellbore wall) to hold them securely in place. The "cemented" casings stabilise the newly drilled wellbore and prevent wall cave-ins. Most importantly, it isolates potentially dangerous high pressure zones. Cementing also protects casings from decay, collapse or any other damage caused during drilling.
